Weekend crime round-up

A man walking home along Location Road near Brakpan North was robbed of his belongings at gunpoint.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – A cash till containing R400 and a few coins was stolen during a break-in at a shop along Prince George Avenue.
* A smash-and-grab was reported at the intersection of Airport Drive and Van Dyk Road in Dalpark.
The female victim was stationary in traffic at 16:30 when she was approached by a beggar.
After telling him she had no money to give him, the man smashed one of her car windows and ran off.
While nothing was stolen, damage to the window is estimated at R4 000.

Saturday – A man walking home along Location Road near Brakpan North was robbed of his belongings at gunpoint.
The incident took place around 19:00.
Three men accosted the victim and made off with his cellphone and wallet, which contained cash, his bank card and ID book.
A case of armed robbery is under investigation.

Sunday – Two businesses were burgled.
An extension cord and other goods valued at R5 500 were stolen from a shop in Voortrekker Road, while R2 000 cash was stolen from a business in Prince George Avenue.
