Petrol station robber behind bars

Detective WO Doepie du Plessis traced Mabaso and arrested him.

It may have taken four years, but justice has finally caught up with Mnelisi Trevor Mabaso.

The 29-year-old was one of a gang of men who robbed a Brakpan petrol station on March 21, 2017.

Mabaso and his accomplices entered the Sasol garage along Heidelberg Road in Dalpark around 9.15pm and threatened the cashier at gunpoint.

They then fled with cash and cigarettes.

According to Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, Mabaso was linked to the crime through his fingerprints and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
