Police are offering a reward for any information on Ekurhuleni’s serial rapist

The public is urged not to confront him should they see him but rather go to the nearest police station.

The Gauteng police are offering a cash reward for any information which will lead to the arrest of a serial rapist operating across Ekurhuleni.

Police spokesperson Capt Mavela Masondo said it is believed the suspect raped a woman in Chief Albert Luthuli informal settlement, Crystal Park, on February 23.

An image of the man was captured on CCTV in the informal settlement and police believe this might assist them.

“We are appealing to the residents to come forward with information because it is clear that this man is living in the community,” said Masondo.

This photo was captured at the Chief Albert Luthuli informal settlement on February 23. Police believe this might be the serial rapist.

“We also urge residents not to take the law into their own hands.”

The latest case was opened in February at the Crystal Park SAPS.

The suspect is linked to over 50 cases through DNA evidence and the cases date back to 2014 in Crystal Park, Daveyton, Etwatwa and Putfontein.

The suspect is described as short and slender but masculine, bow-legged, has a scar below his left eye, is isiZulu-speaking and wears a beanie or cap.

He targets women between the ages of 12 and 40.

The man is always on foot.

The public is urged not to confront him should they see him but rather go to the nearest police station.

Anyone with information can contact WO Tlala Mokoena on 071 675 6166 or team leader Leon Bester on 079 890 7472 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
