Driver hijacked after stopping to avoid hitting pedestrian

He was assaulted several times and also robbed of his cellphone and cash.

A man, hijacked at gunpoint on Monday morning, would later hear his attackers discussing whether or not to kill him.

The victim was robbed of his white Toyota Hilux bakkie along Springs Road in Denneoord.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the incident took place at 10am when a man jumped out in front of the victim’s vehicle, forcing him to stop.

The victim told police he had noticed the man and another male sitting on the side of the road.

After questioning the man about his behaviour, the victim was confronted by the second male who opened the bakkie’s driver side door and pointed a gun at him.

The victim was instructed to be quiet and was taken captive.

They drove off and were later met by the occupants of two blue Toyotas.

The victim was dragged out of his bakkie and forced into one of these cars, where he was told to lie down and his hands were tied with rope.

He was assaulted several times and also robbed of his cellphone and cash.

It was during this time the victim overheard the men talking about killing him.

Deciding not to harm him any further, the men dumped the victim in a veld.

With his hands still tied, he sought help and was directed to the nearest police station, which was in Dawn Park, Boksburg.
