Hijackers flee with bakkie after disabling anti-hijack button

The victim was forced out of his bakkie by a man armed with a gun and taken to the Polo.

The driver of a white Toyota Hilux bakkie was hijacked in Maryvlei last Thursday afternoon.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the victim was travelling along 12th Road en route to Kwa-Thema at about 4.20pm when he noticed a white Volkswagen Polo speeding up behind him.

He moved over to the side of the road so the Polo could overtake him.

After passing the victim, the Polo driver braked in front of him, forcing him to stop.

The victim was forced out of his bakkie by a man armed with a gun and taken to the Polo.

He was driven to a secluded area in Langaville Extension Six where he was tied up with cables.

The hijackers disabled the bakkie’s anti-hijack button and drove off, leaving the victim behind.
