Criminals target SPCA

This is the second time in recent months that the local SPCA has fallen victim to crime.

With the Brakpan SPCA already taking strain as a result of the lockdown, the society is facing further challenges after an attempt was made to break into the premises over the weekend.

It is believed the perpetrators fled after the alarm sounded.

While they did not gain entry to the property, a section of the perimeter wall was damaged and some of the wall slabs removed.

This is the second time in recent months that the local SPCA has fallen victim to crime.

On May 24, the clinic on the premises was broken into and needles and syringes were stolen.

The burglars used the branch of a tree outside the property to lift the electric fencing to gain entry.

The SPCA has since cut down the tree to prevent it from happening again.

In these uncertain times, however, the best elements of human nature can prevail and the wall will be repaired free of charge by Paisley Walling.
