Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – Two TVs were stolen during a break-in at a home in Elizabeth Eybers Street, Dalpark.

* A woman was hijacked of her white Volkswagen Tiguan at Mall@Carnival. The victim, whose two-year-old daughter was with her, arrived at the mall around 3.30pm and parked her car. As she was getting her daughter out of the vehicle, she was approached by a man armed with a gun. He instructed her to get into the backseat and lie down. The gunman was joined by an accomplice and they both climbed into the car and drove off with the woman and her child. They were driven around for about three hours and dropped off in Pretoria. The car was later recovered in Centurion.

* A business in Denne Road, Witpoort Estates, was robbed by three gunmen around 3pm. The robbers fled with a large sum of cash and a truck after tying up a security guard.

Saturday – Various tools were stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Prince George Avenue.

* A store in Mall@Carnival was burgled of electrical equipment.

Sunday – A white Volkswagen Polo was stolen from Wordsworth Street in Dalpark.

* A case of attempted murder is under investigation after a woman was shot while travelling along Ergo Road in Maryvlei. The victim was driving home around 8.30pm when the occupants of a white bakkie opened fire on her vehicle. Her car was struck three times and the victim was wounded in the lower body. She drove to a nearby plot and police were called. The woman’s husband took her to the Netcare N17 Hospital in Springs for medical treatment.
