Animal welfare still a priority for Brakpan SPCA during lockdown

All visitors to the premises need to adhere to a temperature test and fill out a form for Covid-19 regulations.

The Brakpan SPCA has protocols in place to continue serving the public during the Level 4 lockdown.

The operating hours of the local society are:

• 9am to 4pm during weekdays.
• 9am to noon on Saturdays.
• Closed on Sundays.

Members of the public need to make an appointment to visit the premises for the following:

• Adoptions.
• Stray and unwanted animals.
• To purchase any essential items from the SPCA.
• To look for a missing pet.

The procedures for members of the public are as follows:

• Social distancing must apply at all times.
• There will be a limit of two people per appointment.
• Masks must be worn. Hand sanitiser will be available at the SPCA.

Appointments will be made per hour to limit the amount of people entering the SPCA at a given time.

The front gate will be used. Three cars will be allowed entry at a time and the gate will then be closed in order to manage the flow of people.

SPCA staff are available for any animal-related queries, cruelty complaints and general inquiries.

The society is excited to be able to process adoptions again and looks forward to getting homes for the animals in their care.
