Brakpan sparkles in warm up

Brakpan’s forwards dominated the university side.

People around Brakpan Rugby Club are excited about the upcoming season as they believe that they have a strong side this year.

Last Saturday the club had an opportunity to show if the confidence is justified and they did it emphatically. Brakpan’s first team hammered Tuks 38-0 in a preseason match in Pretoria.

They led 21-0 at halftime.

Reggie Muller’s charges were simply too strong for their opponents who tried to get a running game going but they just could not match Brakpan’s physicality.

Brakpan’s forwards dominated the university side as they had front foot ball on almost every scrum.

With the front men going forward the platform was laid for the backline to shine and they took advantage of their opponents.

The future also looks good for Brakpan as they had five players younger than 23 coming off the bench to add on to Tuks’ woes.

The second team also put on an impressive performance on Saturday. They beat Naka Bulle 21-7 after being 7-0 up at the interval.

Although Brakpan is waiting for confirmation of dates for when the season officially starts, this performance will have them feeling like they could have a special 2020 season.

Their preparations will continue this weekend when they host a rugby day at the Bosman Stadium.

A host of rugby clubs will be in action in Brakpan as teams prepare for the season.

Fans are urged to come out to the Bosman Stadium for a day of rugby, which starts at 9am on Saturday.
