Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A female pedestrian was robbed of her cellphone by three men at the corner of Queen Avenue and High Street.

The incident took place around 4.30pm.

* Solar panels were stolen from a business along Main Reef Road in Anzac.

* A white Toyota Hilux bakkie was stolen from Carnival City.

The vehicle was later recovered in Thokoza.

* Jewellery and an iPhone were stolen during a break-in at a home in Northdene Avenue.

* A bakkie parked along Porter Avenue was broken into and tools were stolen.

* The driver of a white Mercedes-Benz C250 was robbed of his vehicle in Kaapmuiden Avenue, Leachville.

The victim was parked outside an address along this street with his girlfriend and another friend at about 9.30pm.

They noticed a white Volkswagen Golf driving up and down the street.

The trio found themselves surrounded by three men armed with guns.

The driver tried to get out of the car, but was forced into the backseat, along with his girlfriend and friend.

They were driven off by the hijackers and robbed of their belongings.

The hijackers took the victims to an ATM, where they withdrew money from their bank accounts.

They were then driven to a secluded area and let go.

In addition to the car, cash and bank cards, the hijackers also made off with five cellphones, jewellery and shoes.

• Saturday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.

• Sunday – A white Mazda bakkie was stolen from Carnival City.

• Theft: 1
• Shoplifting: 1
