Brakpan to host rugby day

"We want to put Brakpan back on the map."

With the 2020 rugby season coming up, the Brakpan Rugby Club has been hard at work preparing for one of the year’s biggest highlights.

The club will be hosting their annual rugby day at Bosman Stadium on March 22.

With over 22 clubs already entered, the day could be an entertaining one.

The likes of Tuks, Springs and Germiston Simmers have already confirmed that they will be in action in Brakpan on the day.

Teams such as the University of Johannesburg and Centurion are likely to confirm their participation in the coming days.

Brakpan has stated that they will be organising plenty of activities for the day.

Brakpan Rugby Club’s players go through their paces ahead of the 2020 season. The club will host a rugby day on March 22 at Bosman Stadium.

The day will also present a chance for the local club to give a preview of what their fans could expect this season under new head coach Reggie Muller.

Muller is Brakpan’s former captain and will be looking to make an impact in his new role.

“We want to put Brakpan back on the map. We want to be one of the top three sides in the country again,” he recently told the Herald.

After falling behind their usual high standards over the last couple of seasons, they are looking to get back to being mentioned among the country’s elite rugby clubs.

A strong pre-season could provide the confidence needed to launch a strong campaign.

The day will also provide an opportunity to see the quality possessed by the rivals.

With Springs and Vereeniging expected to be the biggest threats in the Valke League, seeing them in action could provide a peek at what to expect this season.

March 22 will show off some of club rugby’s top talents at one venue.

With plenty of players showing up for Brakpan’s pre-season training, one can expect the local club to provide a strong showing this season.

The rugby day will give coach Muller an opportunity to have a look at different players and combinations.
