The Love Potion returns with a stellar lineup

The Love Potion is a fund-raiser for the Ekurhuleni non-profit organisation, the Cool Dads Foundation.

The Love Potion returns to Carnival City for another spectacular concert for a good cause this Valentine’s Day (February 14).

In the lineup for this year’s show are Shekhinah, Samthing Soweto, Blaq Diamond and Loyiso Gijana.

The Love Potion is a fund-raiser for the Ekurhuleni non-profit organisation, the Cool Dads Foundation, which runs several programmes to encourage and support fathers in playing a more active role in the development and upbringing of their children.

“This concert is not only about a celebration of love, but also promotion of authentic fatherhood, which is the aim of the Cool Dads Foundation,” said Bongani Luvalo, founder and CEO of the Cool Dads Foundation.

Carnival City’s marketing manager, Michelle Smith, hopes music fans will come out in full support of this year’s show.

The Cool Dads Foundation has enlisted the help of big hitters in the love movement with pop/R&B vocalist and songwriter Shekhinah who’ll be bringing her celestial voice, joined by Samthing Soweto, whose 2019 album broke the record of the highest number of users ‘pre-adding’ the album on streaming service Apple Music South Africa before the release of the album.

Blaq Diamond is an Afro-pop duo comprising Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa, who are better known as Ndu and Danya.

They’re known for releasing a combination of Afro-pop, hip-hop and soulful house sounds.

Their latest track, Ibhanoyi, is a soulful piece about two male friends who find joy in working to show their love for their partners.

The lineup is completed by Loyiso Gijana, a singer who found stardom as a contestant on the 11th season of the singing competition Idols South Africa during which he made the top eight.

Since his appearance on Idols SA, he has built an Instagram following with his many vocal and piano covers.

The Love Potion concert takes place at the Big Top Arena at 6.30pm.

Children will be allowed provided they are under adult supervision.

The Cool Dads Foundation was established in 2012 by Luvalo and a network of friends in KwaThema to facilitate, promote, educate, advocate and support a culture of positive fatherhood by engaging with fathers and reminding them of their fundamental responsibility towards their children.

Their vision is to grow into a nationally recognised network of fathers with a passion for fatherhood in order to address the social ills stemming from absent fathers and reinstate the image of the man and the dignity of fatherhood in society.

The foundation relies heavily on the sponsorship and support it receives from the public and caring companies in order to keep delivering programmes in the community.
