Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A case of attempted murder was opened after a man sustained gunshot wounds to both of his legs during a robbery at his home along Second Road in Witpoort Estates.

Police were called to the address around 9pm.

A tenant who shares the home with the victim told police he heard screaming and gunshots.

It is believed the victim was attacked by two men, who demanded money.

The robbers reportedly fled with two cellphones.

The victim was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital.

• Saturday – Copper cables valued at thousands of rands were stolen by a gang of 10 robbers from a business along Ergo Road in Maryvlei.

The robbers, some of whom were armed with guns, confronted two security guards on the premises at about 2.20am.

* A motorist was shot while travelling along Ergo Road in Maryvlei.

Police were alerted to the incident around 5am and upon arrival at the scene, they found a white Peugeot (model not provided) with three bullet holes in the driver’s side door.

The victim was transported to the Life Dalview Hospital.

No further information was provided.

A case of attempted murder is under investigation.

* An alternator and a carburettor were stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Wenden Avenue.

* A white Alfa Romeo (model not provided) was stolen from Prince George Avenue.

• Sunday – A home in Hannah Street was burgled of a TV and two laptops.

A red Mazda (model not provided) parked on the property was also taken.

* A TV and kitchen appliances were stolen during a break-in at a home along Elliot Road in Anzac.
