Report unscrupulous dealers to designated second-hand goods officer

Residents are urged to report unscrupulous dealers.

Const Sibusiso Mavuso, the designated second-hand goods officer at the Brakpan Police Station, has urged the community to practice responsible purchasing of second-hand goods.

The Second-Hand Goods Act, 2009 (Act no 6 of 2009) is intended to regulate the manner in which dealers and pawnbrokers conduct their business and promote ethical standards in the industry with the view of reducing all property related crime.

Second-hand goods dealers and recyclers are encouraged to contact Mavuso for more information and to check their compliance with the Act.

Members of the public can contact Mavuso to report unscrupulous dealers, suspected stolen goods and cables with burnt covers on 011 744 7100/7201.
