Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (September 16 to 17):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 5
• Robbery with firearm: 2
• Shoplifting: 1
• Business robbery: 1
• Illegal immigrants: 2
• Residential burglary: 2
• Fraud: 1
• Common robbery: 1

Arrests:

• Theft of bicycle: 1
• Illegal immigrants: 3
• Shoplifting: 1
• Theft of motor vehicle: 2

Armed robbery:

• Two men were attacked and robbed in Brakpan North on Sunday.

The victims were walking along Hospital Road around 6.40pm when a car pulled up alongside them.

Two men – one armed with a knife and the other with a gun – alighted the vehicle and attacked the pair.

One man was stripped of his pants and tekkies, and also robbed of his cellphone.

• A security guard on duty at a company along Airport Drive in Dalpark was robbed of his cellphone, panic button and torch.

The guard was patrolling the premises around 9.45pm last night (Monday) when three men confronted him.

He was threatened with a gun and searched.

The robbers fled without taking anything from the business premises.

Business robbery:

• Two men robbed a Prince George Avenue shop at gunpoint last night.

The incident took place just before 8pm.

One of the men entered the shop and grabbed a cold drink from the fridge.

He then approached the tills and asked the cashier for headache tablets.

His accomplice, who had a bandaged hand in a sling, then entered the shop and showed the cashier a gun.

The gun was concealed in the sling.

The robbers helped themselves to cash and made their getaway in a white Volkswagen Polo.

Common robbery:

• A female jogger was robbed of her waist pack on Tuesday, last week.

Two men ran off with the pack, which contained two cellphones, after grabbing it from the woman as she was running along West Street in Sonneveld.

The robbery occurred around 5.40pm.

Burglary:

• Morris Place, Kenleaf.

The break-in took place on Saturday.

Stolen: A gaming console, a speaker and a hard drive.

• Tweedy Road, Brenthurst.

The break-in occurred yesterday.

Stolen: Jewellery.
