Mandela Day 2019: Siyabonga Africa reach out to those in need (Video)

The activities were held at the Charl Baard Stadium, in commemoration of Mandela Day. 

On Wednesday afternoon, the local organisation Siyabonga Africa set out to reach the homeless and abandoned people who live in dire circumstances in and around the CBD of Brakpan.

Siyabonga Africa joined hands with partners, community stakeholders and volunteers, to bring hope and warmth to those who have to brace the cold winter months without adequate basic necessities such as food and housing.

Carmen Dell (left), Sarah Brink and Nontombi Hadebe from the Siyabonga Africa team were thrilled to assist those in need.

The Mandela Day WALK WITH DIGNITY campaign, is aimed at restoring a sense of dignity to hundreds of homeless people in Ekurhuleni.

The team washed the feet of the homeless, seeing to open wounds and provided warm socks and were possible, a comfortable pair of shoes as well.

The Siyabonga Africa team also served the homeless and hungry with a meal.

Siyabonga Africa is a non-profit organisation, based in Brenthurst, which operates numerous programmes for the purpose of poverty alleviation.
