Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – An iPad was stolen during a break-in at a home along Tinker Road in Brenthurst.

* An employee at a shop in Mall@Carnival was tied up by two men during a robbery.

Posing as a customer, one of the robbers entered the shop around 9.15am and asked about a pair of shoes.

The employee went to the back of the store to check for the shoes and the robber followed him and threatened him with a gun.

The gunman was joined by an accomplice and the employee was tied up.

He was later rescued by a co-worker and the robbers fled with sports bags and cellphones.

• Saturday – A motorist was robbed of his car keys, bank cards, sunglasses and other valuables at gunpoint by three women to whom he had given a lift.

The incident took place along Elsburg Road, near Carnival City, at about 4am.

A case of armed robbery was opened.

* Two vehicles were stolen.

A white Mazda Sting was stolen from Park Street and a white GWM bakkie was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

• Sunday – A home in Etosha Avenue, Dalpark Extension Six, was burgled of a TV and a computer.

* A Dalpark Extension Six resident walked in on four robbers ransacking her Liquadamber Street home.

The victim arrived at her residence at about 8pm and found the men in her dining room.

She was taken to her bedroom at gunpoint and told to stay put and “not do anything stupid”.

The robbers made off with her TV, laptops, a computer tablet and a cellphone.

• Assault GBH: 1
