Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (August 30 to 31):

Cases reported:

Hijacking:

• A man hijacked in Brakpan on Wednesday evening was found unharmed in the boot of his car by police officers in Pretoria.

The victim was robbed of his vehicle, a blue Mercedes-Benz C-Class C220d,  at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Kerry Street by two men.

He was confronted by the pair at around 8pm and forced into the backseat of his car at gunpoint.

The hijackers later pulled over and bundled the victim into the boot.

They abandoned the car in Silverton and made off with the victim’s laptop, cellphone and wallet.

The victim was found by Silverton SAPS members at about 11pm.

Business robbery:

• Airtime, cash, cigarettes and cosmetics were stolen from a tuck shop along Rooigom Avenue in Leachville this morning (Friday).

The business owner resides on the property.

Four men, one of whom was armed with a knife, broke into the shop at around 2.30am and demanded money from the owner.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A white Toyota Yaris was stolen from Mall@Carnival on Monday.

The vehicle was recovered in Windmill Park, Boksburg.

• On Wednesday, a red Ford Figo was stolen from Heidelberg Road in Dalpark.

Theft out of motor vehicle:

• A car parked at Mall@Carnival was broken into on Wednesday.

A handbag containing cash and other valuables was stolen.
