Donations of socks and blankets needed

The Herald’s annual Winter Woollies Collection project is off to a wonderful start with a generous donation of hundreds of colourful and woolly socks.

The socks were donated by the children of St Columba’s School in Benoni, who have generously supported the Herald’s project for the last five years.

The learners also donated socks to two other worthy causes.

Each year, the Herald aims to collect as many blankets, socks, woollen hats, gloves and scarves as possible, and to distribute them to various welfare organisations in Brakpan.

The project, now in its 12th year, is greatly appreciated by the beneficiaries who treasure a blanket and a pair of warm socks to shield them from the cold.

Items can be delivered to the Herald’s office at 61 Van der Walt Street in Dalview.

The Herald politely requests that residents do not donate any other items of clothing for this specific project.
