Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Sound equipment was stolen from a vehicle parked along Boekenhout Street in Dalpark.

* Four men fled with TVs and other valuables after robbing the occupants of a home along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst.

The robbers gained access to the house at about 8.15pm and threatened the four victims at gunpoint.

One shot was fired and two of the victims were assaulted with a wrench.

• Saturday – A spare wheel was stolen from a bakkie parked at Mall@Carnival.

• Sunday – Two gunmen robbed a motorist in Leachville.

The victim was travelling along new Kleinfontein Road at around 9.30am when a white car overtook him and suddenly braked, forcing him to stop.

Two men armed with guns alighted the car and approached him.

They searched the victim and his car, helping themselves to a large sum of cash, cartons of cigarettes, airtime and other valuables.

* A home in Pienaar Street, Brenthurst, was burgled of a TV, sound system and a computer tower.

Other cases reported:

• Thursday – A black Big Boy motorcycle (model not provided) was stolen from Northdene Avenue.

• Monday – A TV was stolen during a break-in at a home along Glamorgan Avenue in Dalview during the early hours of this morning.

Weekend arrests

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Possession of housebreaking implements: 4
• House robbery and possession of stolen property: 1
• Shoplifting: 3
• Possession of drugs: 4
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Housebreaking and theft: 1
• Drunk driving: 1
