Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A passenger was robbed at the Schapenrust Train Station in Brenthurst.

The victim boarded the Springs-bound train at the Brakpan Train Station at around 9.20am.

During a stop at Schapenrust, three men boarded the train and confronted the victim.

He was threatened with a knife and searched.

The robbers fled with the victim’s cellphone and cash.

* Five men robbed a shop in Cavendish Street of cash, cigarettes and chocolates.

The robbers entered the store at 7.25pm and held staff at gunpoint.

* A home along Springs Road in Denneoord was burgled of TVs, laptops, jewellery and other valuables.

• Saturday – A TV, cellphone, laptop and gaming console were stolen from a residence in Cardigan Street, Dalview.

• Sunday – A security guard was robbed of his cellphone by three armed men at business premises along Fifth Street in Witpoortjie.

They confronted the guard as he was conducting patrols at around 1.30am and searched him.

The guard pressed his panic button and the trio fled when response officers from a security company arrived.

* A break-in was reported at an address along Brodigan Avenue in Dalview.

Various household items were stolen, as well as a silver Toyota Etios parked on the property.

• Speeding: 4
• Corruption and extortion: 2
• Drunk driving: 2
• Shoplifting: 3
• Possession of drugs: 1
