Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A motorist was robbed along Station Road.

After parking his car at about 9.30am, the victim was approached by three men who held him at knife point.

The trio searched him, taking his cellphone, jewellery and some cash.

* A car parked at an address along Prince George Avenue was broken into and a crowbar was stolen.

One suspect was arrested.

* Three homes were broken into.

The burglaries took place at addresses along Dirk van der Hoff Street in Denneoord, Athlone Avenue in Dalview and Etosha Avenue in Dalpark Extension Six.

TVs, a DVD player, home theatre system, sound system, shoes, clothes, jewellery, groceries, a cellphone and a laptop were stolen.

• Saturday –  A white Toyota Tazz was stolen from Carnival City.

* Three burglaries were reported.

These took place at homes along Fraser Street in Brakpan North, Olga Mitchell Street in Anzac and Derby Avenue.

Stolen items include cash, documents, a laptop, two pellet guns, tools and a home theatre system.

* A woman was robbed of her cellphone at Carnival City at around 11.45pm.

One suspect was arrested.

• Sunday – A home in Olga Mitchell Street in Anzac was burgled of a TV.

* A man was robbed of his car and cellphone along Elsburg Road (R554) near Carnival City.

The victim told police he parked his black Chevrolet Lumina on the side of the road at around 8.15pm and walked home.

Returning to the vehicle at around midnight, he was confronted by a group of men who threatened him with a gun and a knife.

They took his car keys and cellphone, and bound him with shoelaces.

The men drove off in the victim’s vehicle.

Other cases:

• Thursday – Two homes were burgled.

The break-ins took place at addresses along Leeu Avenue in Leachville and Escombe Avenue.

Electrical appliances and clothes were stolen.

* A business in Wattle Street, Dalpark, was burgled of computers.

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Theft: 4
• Possession of unlicensed firearm: 2
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1
• Speeding: 13
• Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
• Shoplifting: 1
• Selling liquor without a licence: 1
• Common robbery: 1
