Body of man with bloodied face found near flats

An inquest docket has been opened by Brakpan police following the discovery of a body along Kingsway Avenue on Monday morning.

Police were summoned to the scene near a block of flats at about 6am and found the body of an unidentified man lying face-down.

His face was bloodied and he was wearing a green T-shirt, black denim pants and red and black tekkies.

This is the third body to be found in Brakpan in recent weeks.

It was reported in last week’s Herald how the bodies of two men were found in separate incidents in Brakpan the previous week (‘Two bodies found’).

The first body was found on Friday, November 10, in the veld near Coert Steynberg Street, in Van Eck Park, by workers from a nearby factory.

According to spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, Capt Pearl van Staad, the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

She told the Herald the man was in his 60s and was wearing denim pants and a black Puma jacket.

Two pairs of brown shoes were found near his body.

On Sunday, November 12, the body of a man in his 20s was found in the veld near New Kleinfontein Road, in Leachville.

“He was found face-down and had a wound on his neck,” said van Staad.

The man was wearing a purple T-shirt, blue pants, black Puma tekkies and an Avon wristwatch with a brown strap.

Police are appealing to anyone with information which may help the investigation to come forward.
