Gun suspect linked to robbery

According to Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, the man was released on bail, but further investigations have since linked him to the robbery case, which took place in March.

A man who is currently out on bail for possession of an unlicensed firearm is being sought by Brakpan police for a case of robbery.

It was reported in an article in the Herald’s June 2 edition, ‘Tip-off leads police to two illegal firearms’, that two men from the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement were arrested after police acted on a tip-off about illegal guns.

According to Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, the man was released on bail, but further investigations have since linked him to the robbery case, which took place in March.

It is alleged that the man and an accomplice robbed a male victim of his belongings near a supermarket in the Brakpan CBD.

The victim was robbed of his possessions after helping the pair offload goods from a truck.

Members of the public with information on the man’s whereabouts can report it to the Brakpan detective branch on 011 741 4800.
