The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (May 19 to 20):

House robbery:

• A man and his wife were robbed in their Sonneveld home yesterday morning (Thursday).

The couple, who live along Graaf Street, were awakened by voices at around 3am.

The husband got up to investigate and saw a man armed with a gun.

The husband attempted to return to his bedroom to hide, but the robber followed him and confronted him.

Four more robbers joined the armed man and the victims were tied up.

The husband was threatened with a knife.

During the initial commotion, the husband managed to press the panic button and response officers from a security company arrived at the address.

The victims were forced to tell the officers everything was in order.

Cash, a tablet, a cellphone, jewellery and a 9mm pistol were stolen.

The robbers also took the couple’s car, the make and model of which was not provided.

Business robbery:

• Laptops, computer monitors and TVs were stolen during a robbery at a business in Van Eck Park, this morning.

A security guard on the premises, which is situated along Jan Buis Street, was overpowered by two robbers at around 1.30am.

Burglary:

• Queen Avenue.

The break-in took place on Saturday.

Stolen: Door handles and a vacuum cleaner.

• Lawrence Road, in Dalpark.

The residence was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: Hand tools, liquor, a microwave, clothing, a CD player and a printer/scanner.

• Graskop Avenue, in Leachville.

The burglary occurred yesterday.

Stolen: A cellphone and a school bag.

• Lemmer Road, in Vulcania (business).

The break-in took place on Wednesday.

Stolen: Workshop equipment and sections of metal/steel.

• Main Reef Road, in Anzac.

The residence was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: Clothing, an ID book and a wallet.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A white Honda Ballade was stolen from Muir Avenue, last night.

The theft took place between 7.30pm and 8.15pm.
