Drug dealers dealt a heavy blow

Drug dealers in the town were dealt a big blow last week, when the Brakpan SAPS and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department caught people with illegal substances in their possession.

According to Capt Joep Joubert, members of the Brakpan police followed up on information and searched a sports bar on the corner of Kingsway and Cavendish Avenue, at about 12.40pm.

They confiscated dagga and Cat with a street value of R14 000 and R207 000 respectively.

A 29-year–old man was arrested and will appear in the Brakpan Magistrates Court, on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Later on the same day, EMPD Intervention Unit members were conducting routine stop-and-searches, as well as visibility patrols along Heidleberg Road.

Metro Police officers spotted a white Toyota Corolla sedan at around 2.30pm and decided to stop and search its occupants, as well as the vehicle.

A total of 148 Mandrax tablets and one full moon (heroine), worth approximately R10 000, were found hidden under the front passenger seat.

“The two suspects, one in his mid-50s and the other in his mid-40s, were taken to the Brakpan Police Station, where a case of possession of and dealing in illicit substances was registered against them,” Joubert said.

“They were expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrates Court on Friday (June 26).
