Cash-in-transit heist:

A cash-in-transit security guard was shot during a heist at a petrol station along Main Reef Road, in Anzac, yesterday (Tuesday).

Three robbers confronted the guard and a collegue as they stopped at the filling station at around 11.30am.

One of the guards was retrieving an empty money bag from the back of the vehicle – a white Toyota bakkie – when he saw a man with a ‘long gun’ approaching him.

The man instructed the guard to stand still and then disarmed him of his 9mm pistol.

The guard was then told to lie on the ground.

A gunshot rang out and the guard saw another two men near the driver’s side of the bakkie.

He then saw his colleague had been shot.

Both guards were placed in the back of the bakkie and the injured guard was also disarmed.

The robbers took all the money bags from the front of the bakkie and fled in a white Audi.

The injured guard was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

Break-ins:

• Seventh Road, in Witpoort Estates (business).

Stolen: Truck batteries.

• Hastings Avenue (business).

Stolen: A white Hino Super F truck.

A second truck on the premises was tampered with and its ignition damaged.

• Wordsworth Street, in Dalpark Extension 11.

Stolen: A television set and jewellery.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A Ford Courier bakkie (colour not provided) was stolen from an address along Escombe Avenue.
