Art Exhibition to celebrate Human Rights Day

The Beyond Teaching exhibition is open free of charge.

On Tuesday, March 21, South Africa will celebrate national Human Rights Day to reflect on, and affirm, the basic human rights enshrined in the country’s constitution.

As such, the City of Ekurhuleni calls all art lovers to commemorate this significant day through an art exhibition at the Springs Art Gallery on Saturday, March 25.

The exhibition is made up of art and photographs created by art students from Ekurhuleni’s Art Development School, Art as Healing Classes and the Photography Projects.

Visitors can view art that expresses the artists’ emotions, views and comprehension of various situations, under the theme ‘Beyond Teaching’.

The day’s programme includes live music performances by KwaTsaDuza Jazz Orchestra, spoken word artists, fashion features and a showcase of children’s fun-filled art activities, including painting, drawing and drumming.

The Beyond Teaching exhibition is open free of charge to the public until Wednesday, May 31.

The Springs Art Gallery is open free of charge weekdays from 8am to 4.30pm and on Saturdays from 8am to noon. It is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
