The Jackal loses title in bloody ‘barbwire’ match

Brakpan wrestler The Jackal came up short at the South African Pro Wrestling (SAPW) "Home of Hardcore" event on Saturday, when his rival Hector Payne defeated him in a "barbwire match" to become the new SAPW Hardcore Champion.

Harliquinn (top) is the new SAPW Heavyweight champion after defeating The Crow.

The hardcore wrestling action took place at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre.

Ring ropes covered in barbed wire, various weapons, thumbtacks, broken glass and even assistance from special guest referee and hardcore legend, Jacques Roque ,was not enough for The Jackal to defeat the determined Hector Payne.

In the upset of the year, Harliquinn managed to end The Crow’s year-and-a-half title reign in a traditional SAPW Hardcore match.

Harliquinn had the fans on their feet when he showed a very unexpected side and caught The Crow off guard.

Other results:

• Griffin defeated Jack Canon in a chair match.

• Warlock defeated Steve Eden, The Ripper and Londos in a four-way elimination match.

• Big Fire defeated Cowboy in a tables match.

SAPW wrestlers can be seen in action this weekend at the Impala Rally at Hartebeespoort Resort when Hector Payne and Harliquinn will have have to defend their newly gained titles.
