National Police Day was commemorated nationwide on Friday, last week. In honour of the day, the Brakpan SAPS held a prayer service on Thursday.
Clerics from local churches were invited to attend and joined police in prayers for divine intervention in the fight against crime.
Highlights of the event included a candle-lighting ceremony in honour of police officers killed in the line of duty.
Station commander Brig Fredl Jonck gave the keynote address.
