Hijackers handcuff victims to each other

One of the hijackers was brandishing a shotgun while the other was armed with a pistol.

Brakpan police are investigating a case of hijacking after a man was robbed of his vehicle in Withok Estates.

The incident took place at about 8pm on Thursday, last week, after the man had arrived at an address along 12th Road.

The man, travelling in a white BMW 523i, stopped at the property to drop off a colleague.

He had climbed out of the vehicle to assist his co-worker, who was struggling to open the gate.

Four males, two of whom were armed, suddenly confronted them and forced the man to the ground.

One of the hijackers was brandishing a shotgun while the other was armed with a pistol.

The man was searched and robbed of R500 in cash.

He and his colleague were then forced into the back of the BMW and the hijackers drove off with them.

The vehicle was brought to a stop along a dead-end street in the area and the men were handcuffed to each other and told to get out of the car.

They walked to a nearby house where they sought help and the police were called.

The BMW was recovered a short while later in Daveyton, Benoni.
