Weekend crime round-up

A murder docket was opened after a man's body was found in Koot Street, in Withok Estates.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Kitchen appliances and household electronics, including a television set, DVD player and hi-fi system, were stolen during a break-in at a home in Willem van Zyl Avenue, Minnebron.

A murder docket was opened after a man’s body was found in Koot Street, in Withok Estates.

• Saturday – Three burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses in North Street, Anzac, and Augrabies Avenue and Hendrik Potgieter Street, Dalpark.

Television sets, a laptop, curtains and jewellery were among the items stolen.

Three people were robbed of cash in 12th Road, Withok Estates.

It is believed the trio were followed from the bank where they had withdrawn cash, believed to be stokvel savings, earlier that morning.

They arrived at a local cash-and-carry at about 10.45am.

While still in the car, they were approached by two men armed with firearms who demanded the cash and also took one of the victims’ cellphones.

The robbers fled in a white Volkswagen Golf 5.

A blue Nissan Sentra was stolen from the corner of Voortrekker Road and Park Street.

Two house robberies took place.

• Sunday – A car parked at Mall@Carnival was broken into.

The vehicle’s radio was stolen.
