Parents be warned: This is where your child could be hiding drugs

Brakpan police have warned parents and teachers to take note of a new method children and teenagers are using to hide their drug stash.

Brakpan police have warned parents and teachers to take note of a new method children and teenagers are using to hide their drug stash.

According to Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander, the local SAPS have come across drugs hidden in roll-on deodorant bottles.

While the method is unfamiliar in Brakpan, it is reportedly quite a common way of smuggling and concealing drugs.

Joubert told the Herald the bottle’s applicator (roller-ball) and contents are removed and the bottle is filled with drugs.

“The applicator is then put back and the drugs can be carried in plain sight,” said Joubert.

It is not known whether the bottle masks the scent of the drugs.

Joubert urged parents and local schools to be on the lookout for this method.
