Feeding programme receives donation

"It was always part of our philosophy to give back to our local community."

Latter Harvest Ministries’ feeding programme received a much needed cheque to the value of R1 000 from Pick n Pay Sherwood Gardens on Friday, last week.

Co-owners of Pick n Pay Sherwood Gardens, Mike Koumbounis and Chris Saraglis, said that they wanted to start giving back to the community of Brakpan by giving R1 000 to different organisations on a weekly basis.

Organisations in Brakpan are welcome to contact Koumbounis or Saraglis on 011 744 2529, or email to fsherwood@pnp.co.za

“After Pastor Mhlanga phoned and told me about their feeding programme, I knew that it would be the right organisation to start with. It was always part of our philosophy to give back to our local community,” said Koumbounis.

The feeding programme takes place every Saturday between 9am and 10am at the Magaleni informal settlement.

“We try and give these people a balanced meal,” said Pastor Zipho Mhlanga, founder and senior pastor of Latter Harvest Ministries, situated at 103 Victoria Avenue.

Mhlanga added that because of the generosity of businesses in Brakpan, they could also provide the people living in Magaleni with warm blankets and clothes.

“My motto is that it’s a blessing to be a blessing.”
