Mayor rolls up his sleeves for Clean Neighbourhood Fridays

Community members joined the mayor.

Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele took part in the Clean Neighbourhood Fridays campaign at the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement in Brakpan, last week.

Friday saw Gungubele and the City’s senior officials spread across informal settlements throughout the region to participate in a clean-up.

Officials and community key stakeholders also joined hands and dedicated two hours of their times to rid the different areas of dirt and rubbish.

Multitudes of community members joined the mayor at the local informal settlement, which is situated near Ergo, and rolled up their sleeves to participate.

“I’m glad to see you all coming out to keep your neighbourhood clean,” said Gungubele.

“I urge you not to wait for us to come back again, you must work together as a community to keep this area clean and make it a potential attraction site for tourists.”
