Robbers take advantage of family’s car trouble

Armed men demanded the family's belongings.

A family was robbed at gunpoint along Heidelberg Road, near Withok Estates, on Saturday night, last week, after they were stranded on the side of the road.

A man, who was travelling with his wife and child, was forced to pull over near Koot Street, at about 7.35pm because of a problem with his vehicle.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the man contacted his mother for assistance, and the woman, who was accompanied by her three daughters, arrived soon afterwards.

The man’s mother and sisters were trying to help him with the car, when a purple Ford Fiesta suddenly pulled over.

Three men, all of whom were armed with guns, alighted the car and demanded the family’s belongings.

The robbers made off with three cellphones, two bank cards and two sets of car keys.
