Keep valuables locked out of sight

Brakpan SAPS has issued a warning to residents to keep their valuables out of sight in their vehicles.

“Theft out of vehicles is usually opportunistic crimes, because a thief is usually after valuables that can be identified from outside the vehicle,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.

Joubert also added that valuables should be kept in the boot or out of sight. This includes clothing items, keys, shopping bags and CDs.

“If you use a GPS, remember to put it away as well. Make sure all the doors are locked and windows are closed before leaving your vehicle.”
