Gauteng Motor Fest soars into town

The engine-blaring, tyre-smoking, motorbike-soaring, drift car-spinning, go-karting, drag racing, helicopter flying Gauteng Motor Festival (GMF) returned to The Rock Raceway from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26, and a spectacle of motoring proficiency was had.

The popular automotive show, organised by Thebe Reed Exhibitions, had the tongues of motoring enthusiasts and petrol heads wagging.

Cold and wet early morning weather on Saturday put a slight damper on the proceedings, but when the conditions improved the festival turbo-charged into life.

Merging the thrill of live-action performances with top automotive exhibitors and a host of great family-focused activities, this year’s show delivered a fun-fuelled, power-packed entertainment experience for the whole family.

The fifth round of SupaDrift nationals was also held over the weekend, with Monster Energy drifter Jason Webb claiming the overall prize.
