Carnival City cleans up Holomisa informal settlement

Carnival City’s “green team” recently rolled up their sleeves to spend a day cleaning up the Holomisa informal settlement in Windmill Park.

The area has been severely affected by illegal dumping of waste, becoming an eye sore and presenting health risks for the community.

While volunteers from Carnival City canvassed the area and picked up litter, brush cutters, courtesy of Top Turf, cut the grass to prevent the potential dangers that could arise from grass burning.

Part of the clean-up campaign was to motivate Holomisa inhabitants to recycle and reuse waste, and make them aware of the potential health and safety risks of illegal dumping and litter.

The ward councillor, Agnes Makhubela, said that she would address the community and encourage them to change their behaviour regarding waste management.
