‘Panne’ keep piling on the big scores

Brakpan Rugby Club’s first XV keeps marching on in their pursuit of 2016 Cell C Community Cup participation, with another good victory on Saturday, May 16, at the Bosman Stadium.

The team’s third fixture of the Valke Peregrine League, this time versus newcomers Klerksdorp, was their third straight win and another by quite a large points margin.

On Saturday, the firsts crossed their opposition’s try-line on 10 occasions, including a fine hat trick from talented young winger Sweef Potgieter, in their 62-28 win.

In fact, Brakpan’s men out wide were responsible for five of their side’s total try haul, with Potgieter’s fellow winger Thinus Ueckermann and replacement Tobie Strydom also dotting down for the hosts.

The try-scorers on the day were Sweef Potgieter (three), Gido Horn, Thinus Ueckermann, Dirk Odendaal, Wikus van den Berg, Francois Robbertse, Theo Becker and Tobie Strydom.

In other results for Brakpan Rugby Club, against Klerksdorp, on Saturday, Brakpan’s u-21s stormed to a 64-0 win, while their second team defeated their opponents 57-6.
