R22 000 raised for SPCA in one day

The fifth annual Sunset Adventure Dog Walk, hosted by the SPCA’s of Brakpan, Boksburg and Springs, was a great success and attended by more than 170 dogs and their owners.

The dog walk was held recently at the Boksburg Stadium.

Owners and their dogs were spoiled on the day and enjoyed a 5km walk, which consisted of obstacle courses, muddy patches and plenty of up and down hills.

An interesting demonstration was done by four pit bulls, Sand, Thor, Riley and Maschettie, which are trained narcotics and sniffer rescue dogs.

The owners and trainers of these pit bulls are Sharron, Josh and Rozlyn Fransisco, who are also the rehab and behaviour specialists for Underdogs SA.

Before everyone went home, they all enjoyed a cup of coffee or a beer, a footlong hot dog and a cupcake.

Through public support an amount of R22 000 was raised for the different SPCAs.

All of the owners enjoyed the walk so much that they promised to be back next year.
