Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (March 6, 7 and 8):

Friday

Police caught a would-be burglar at a business along Station Road.

While nothing was taken from the company, a window was broken and the burglar bars were damaged.

A lawnmower was stolen from Laerskool Kommando, along Northdene Avenue.

A white Nissan bakkie was stolen from Porter Avenue.

Saturday

An orange KTM motorbike was stolen from an address along Hastings Avenue.

Police arrested a man for being in the unlawful possession of a firearm at the Brakpan Taxi Rank.

Patrolling SAPS officers spotted the suspicious-looking man along Station Road, at about 11.45am, and searched him.

Staff at a company along Springs Road, Rand Collieries, were tied up and robbed by two armed men.

The men, both of whom were armed with guns, entered the business at about 9am, pretending to be customers.

Staff were bound with cable ties and the robbers then attempted to steal a car parked on the premises.

They failed to start the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, taking a cellphone.

Three men robbed a male cyclist along Currey Street, at about 12.20pm.

The robbers, who were travelling in a red Toyota Hilux bakkie, stopped the man and asked for directions to Boksburg.

One of the robbers climbed out of the vehicle and pulled the man from his bicycle.

He was robbed of cash and his bicycle.

A man was robbed of his cellphone and wallet by a gang of robbers at about 7pm.

The man was walking along Prince George Avenue, when he was approached by the group.

The robbers assaulted the man before taking his belongings.

Two television sets were stolen from a home situated along Gerrit Maritz Avenue, Dalview.

Sunday

Two burglaries were reported.

Television sets, a DVD player, a computer tablet and tools were stolen from addresses along Gert Bezuidenhout Street, Minnebron, and Plumbago Street, Leachville.
