The local SAPS is, therefore, appealing to all insurance assessors operating in the Brakpan area, to contact them.
“Especially those evaluating claims in crime-related incidents,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.
According to Joubert, there has been a drastic increase in the number of false cases being reported to local police.
“It is extremely common for people to just make up a crime, so that they can claim from their insurers,” he said.
“The police view this in a very serious light.”
Assessors can contact Capt Peet van der Schyff on 011 744 7172 to arrange a meeting.
