Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from July 14 to 16.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – Footwear valued at almost R20 000 was stolen during a break-in at a business along Airport Drive in Dalpark.

• A burglary was reported at a home along Hoy Avenue. The garage on the property was broken into and a drill, a bicycle and a motorbike were stolen.

• A TV and a power bank were stolen during a break-in at an address along Petrus Street in Sunair Park.

• A Hamilton Avenue home was burgled of a TV and a cellphone.

• Laptops were stolen during a burglary at a Kingsway Avenue business.

Saturday – A battery was stolen from a truck parked at an address along Lemmer Road in Rand Collieries.

• A Withok Estates resident was robbed in his Lukas Steyn Street home by two men. The intruders, one of whom was armed with a gun, gained access to the property just after midnight and tied up the victim with shoelaces.

He was also assaulted with a steel pipe. The robbers fled with the victim’s cellphone and R1 800 in cash.

• A workshop along Floors Street in Withok Estates was broken into and two grinders were stolen.

Sunday – Two laptops, clothes, shoes and bedding were stolen during a burglary at a home in McMillan Street, Sherwood Gardens.

• A shop in Mall@Carnival was burgled of cellphones. The cellphones were recovered and a suspect was arrested.
