Young entrepreneurs head to India after winning business pitch competition

The Festival of Ideas pitching competition allows young entrepreneurs to pitch their business models to industry leaders.

Five young entrepreneurs will make the City of Ekurhuleni proud when they go to the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Summit 2023 in New Delhi, India, later this month.

The summit will run from July 13 to 15. This news came after the quintet from the city won the annual Ekurhuleni Festival of Ideas pitching competition.

The competition allows young entrepreneurs to pitch their business models to stand a chance to win cash prizes to uplift their businesses.

However, this year there was an additional incentive to participate in the G20 Summit.

“This year, close to 200 hopefuls pitched their business models to a panel of industry leaders, and the five were selected to be part of the country’s delegation to attend the summit because their submission stood above the rest,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“These youngsters will join hundreds of the world’s top young entrepreneurs in sharing ideas and best practices in running a business.”

The five are Nomsa Sefume (owns Butle BaMatsho) and Themba Nkosi (owns Carte Fruit n Vegetable) in the inclusion and equal opportunity category, Mathabo Brightness (owns Mahlake Matchogo Holdings) in the lifestyle and sustainability category, Moko Kgomo (owns Onion Electronics) and Castro Sigasa (owns CGT Manufacturing) in the tech in manufacturing category.

The Ekurhuleni delegation leaves the country on July 11.
