She takes time to explain and educate patients when it comes to their health problems and medications.

No wish from a patient is seen as a burden, but rather a gift she can give to the patient during her 12-hour shift.

Her clinical competence is exceptional and came to the forefront when doctors and the theatre team needed extra people to assist in saving a patient’s life.

With her knowledge and skills she did not blink an eye when asked to assist in theatre.

She immediately went and stepped into her role as a support nurse for the anaesthetists and the duties they had to perform to save a life.

She did so with great confidence and supported the theatre crew and the doctors. Her experience and knowledge helped to ensure the patient received the best care.

Post-theatre, Small nursed the patient in ICU and after a few weeks the patient was discharged.

Small also exhibits great leadership qualities and always steps up and perform duties not expected of her.

She also provides guidance to other nursing staff in the hospital when needed.
