Brakpan businessman kidnapped

The victim was found alive and investigations are ongoing.

Brakpan police are investigating the kidnapping of a local businessman who was held captive after being lured to his shop in Prince George Avenue last Thursday evening.

The victim, in his 30s, has since been found. He was assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment.

According to Brakpan police, the victim, who lives in Springs, was at home with his wife when he received a phone call at around 18:20 from an employee who informed him there was a client urgently looking for him.

The victim left his home and headed to the shop to meet with the client. About an hour later, the victim’s wife was informed of the kidnapping by a relative.

The relative reported receiving two phone calls from the victim stating he had been kidnapped and the abductors wanted money.

The victim’s wife reported the matter to Brakpan SAPS.

The victim’s car, a black Volkswagen Golf 5, was found in Germiston by a vehicle tracking company. The victim was not found with the vehicle.

Police have not disclosed where and when the victim was found.
