SAPS and stakeholders demonstrate readiness for shutdown
Forces combine to deal with any lawlessness on the day.
In addition to increased visibility from Brakpan SAPS, the town’s CPF and security companies have come forward to work hand-in-hand with law enforcers to ensure no one takes advantage to commit criminal activities during the national shutdown planned for today (March 20).
On Friday, Sector 4 CPF members and Fidelity ADT personnel paraded along the R23 (Heidelberg Road) at the corner of Airport Road.
“The Sector 4 CPF members and a very devoted patroller, Jessy Naicker, substantiated that the heightened visibility will not only assist the police regarding the shutdown, but also assist with crime around the area, incorporating cable theft along the R23,” said Brakpan SAPS communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi.
“Brakpan CPF secretary Lisa Jordaan also confirmed their readiness and that they await instruction from the SAPS for any required assistance particularly for March 20.”
Buthelezi, who is also the Brakpan SAPS Sector 1 manager, engaged with the communities of the Mgongo, Magaleni and Plastic City informal settlements on Friday scouting for any shutdown rehearsals.
She encouraged the settlement residents to stay vigilant and to report suspicious activities to the SAPS.
