Weekend crime round-up

Crimes reported to Brakpan police this past weekend.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – Security guards on duty at a business along 11th Road in Vulcania South were threatened at gunpoint during a robbery on the premises.

Three men, one of whom was armed with a gun, gained entry to the property at around 04:30 and ambushed the guards in the guard room.

They were taken to a lavatory where they were forced to lie down. They were then locked inside. The gunman later returned and instructed the guards to help remove a TV from the wall.

They were returned to the lavatory after co-operating. The stolen TV is valued at R15 200.

• A man was robbed at the corner of Station and Voortrekker roads at about 20:00.

The victim was walking to the Brakpan CBD when he was confronted by three men.  They chased him, assaulted him and fled with his iPhone, driver’s licence and bank cards.

• A Datsun Go was stolen from 12th Road in Maryvlei.

Saturday – A Ford Figo was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

• A man walking along Station Road, near Northdene Avenue, was robbed by three men at 20:50. The robbers grabbed the victim from behind and strangled him.

He was forced to the ground and instructed not to look at his attackers. The robbers took the man’s cellphone and R900 in cash.

• Two laptops were stolen during a burglary at a business in Johan Street, Sunair Park.

Sunday – A car parked along Station Road was broken into. The vehicle’s electronic control unit was stolen. Damage was caused to a door lock and the ignition.

• Garden tools and other valuables were stolen during a break-in at a church along Bekker Road in Dalview.
