Suspected stolen generator lands two in cuffs

The pair was arrested after they were spotted by a community member who then reported the matter to Brakpan SAPS.

A tip-off from a community member resulted in the arrest of two men last Friday for possession of suspected stolen property.

According to Brakpan SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Pearl van Staad, the police received a report at about 05:00 of suspicious-looking men pushing a trolley on Hyland Street.

“On arrival, the SAPS members found two men. They were both pushing a trolley which was heavy duty. The members found a generator worth R7 000,” she said.

Van Staad added the duo, aged 24 and 28, could not provide an invoice or proof of ownership for the generator.

They were detained at the Brakpan police station.

Residents are encouraged to be the eyes and ears of the police and immediately report suspicious-looking people, vehicles and activities.
